Traffic, traffic and traffic. Everybody is talking about the importance of traffic in any business nature. Whether you do it online business or offline business, traffic is equally important, for various purposes. It can be for the branding of your business, the purpose of exposure, to sales acquisition. I don’t have any experience managing any offline business, as my nature is in digital product and online solution, so my talk will be solely about how to get traffic for your online businesses.
Nobody knows the exact formula how to get tons of visitors for your online business, be it AdSense blog or sales page. But, what’s definite is, most online guru, they didn’t put all the eggs in a basket. They vary their traffic-getting techniques and leverage every single opportunities available. Let’s take a look at what are those opportunities and how you can benefit from it:
Search Engine Optimization
This is my favourite pick. Search engine optimization is the art of placing your website to the highest possible ranking in search engine result page for a certain keyword. It works for blogs, static page, CMS, or any other platform used. It involves a couple of optimization techniques, mainly by producing good contents at a constant period of time, and strengthen the link structure of a website (acquiring quality backlinks). By doing that, you have a fair chance of getting list on a higher position in any search engine.
This is when things get a little exciting, you’ll get thousands of concentrated/targeted visitors (depending on your niche) per day from search engine, for FREE, and it is what people called organic traffic. Logically, users will only look at the top 5 websites in any SERP, provided that the top 5 websites are extremely helpful and informative, they’ll definitely not go through until page 10 of SERP.
Being successful in search engine optimization is a fantasy of every single website owners. The reward is extremely profitable. But, in order to get a good result in search engine optimization, correct and constant optimizations are needed. You’ll need a lot of courage and discipline to glue yourself in front the computer to implement all the optimization techniques. It may takes month of endless effort before you can see the actual result.
If you have a digital product, you might want to try promoting it through blogging. Everyone knows that blogging starts as an online diary platform. But the development of blogging has been pretty impressive. It is now widely use as a medium to sell (direct and indirect). Constant update about your product and the same time acquiring new traffic to your blog will definitely create a BUZZ about your product. Traffic through blogging are considered as good in quality.
I myself thought that social bookmarking is dead. The truth is, they are still walking and standing strong. But it is definitely a daunting task if you want to bookmark to every single social bookmarking available. Do it smart by using free services that sends your posts to many social bookmarking at one time. Onlywire provides a great services for social bookmarking marketing. I do recommend them for your social bookmarking strategy.
Don’t ever underestimate the power of social networking. Sites like Twitter, Facebook can be a lucrative sources of traffic if you do it right. You could see more and more internet marketers are creating groups in Facebook to engage with their existing and potential clients. This is a great way to get instant traffic to your blog/site. The last method in my list is paid traffic, though it is proven to be highly effective, but it requires some amount of money to start with. I do not recommend this to new internet marketers with budget constraint. But if you want to try, Google AdWords is the good choice to start with.
These are just some of the ways how you can generate traffic for your online business. There is a lot more techniques that can be use to maximise your traffic-getting strategy.
