Do You Have Time For Twitter?
Twitter is a great marketing tool to promote not only your blog, but yourself. I classify them as a social bookmarking + social networking concept tool that helps you and your ‘followers’ interact with each other in more ‘lively’ environment. In Twitter, you gonna have to create your own profile and it’ll display your basic information, including a snap of your picture, which is more similar to social networking. Together in this profile, you gonna have your ‘updates’ and it’ll be visible to your ‘followers’. Your updates will be similar like mini ‘social bookmarking’ and you can insert your blog link in your updates.
This tool can be so powerful in terms of ‘generating loyal traffic’ and it depends on how you promote and get others follow your profile. Here’s a preview of my Twitter profile, you have to click it for a larger and sharper view, and excuse my writings!
Generating Traffic From Twitter
Twitter is like your diary. Twitter’ing’ is completely differ from blogging because Twitter has word limitation in writing your updates. They have 140 words limitation, so you can’t have a long update. Be as precise as you can and include your blog’s link in your update. To get visitors from twitter, the concept is simple, the more your followers, the more the possibility of getting their visit to your blog. In this case, you have to ‘build the list’ before you can really benefit from this tool.
Building Your List
To increase your ‘followers population’, you can simply ask people to follow you on Twitter, just like I did on every posts in this blog. If you write articles, include your Twitter assigned URL in them. When you have the list, you’ve got to appreciate them by regular updates. That’s the reason they followed you. To see what you are doing. People won’t follow an outdated and not regularly-update profile.
Follow others and they might want to follow you. That’s what Mr. Barrack Obama did on his Twitter. One thing for sure, people will want to hear more from a popular person. If you are not as popular as Mr. Barrack Obama then you better make yourself popular and people will want to know more about what you are doing. How to be popular in your niche? I might suggest you to replicate what John Chow did in becoming a popular problogger ![]()
