2008: Norhafidz.com in Review
2008 has been a great year for me and for this blog. I started Norhafidz dot com at the end of March 2008 with this short post. Earlier, I learn how to be part of the online community in 2006 when I co-run a small design company. I was very lucky to learn SEO and other internet marketing techniques without any capital.
The only cost involved is my time, searching how things worked through Google. To be honest, I never buy anything to know how things work, not to say that I am stingy, but I know I can have those information for free.
Instead of paying for information, I use the Larry’s and Sergey’s creation (the most modern search engine of course – Google) to the max. Through this whole year, I was very lucky to be able to connect with a lot of credible bloggers like Yan, Dennis Edell, Jayce, Hussein, JJ from momscashblog, Adam pixelhead, webkinz, cyza, azwan, dstudiobali, Joel Drapper, Salwa and many more (I’m sorry if you are not on the list. Still trying with mostlylisa though).
- Alexa rank: from millions to being in the region of 200K – 300K
- Technorati rank: from millions to 78,919
- Technorati auth: 67
- PageRank: from 0 to 3 (this blog experienced only 1 update)
- Daily UV: from 0 to 150
- Earning: more than $700
- Total posts: 98
- Total drafts: 11
- Total comments (approved): 819
- Total comments (spam): 419
- Total plugins used: 14
- RSS Counts (Readership): 78
The niches..
2008 saw many different blogs were created with one identical idea, being another John Chow. Most of them are gone by now, probably realizing that making money online, particularly through blogging is not easy. In fact, the MMO industry has been so saturated but I always believe that there is still room for everyone.

Good point. I’m pretty stingy as well, so I haven’t yet jumped the gun and purchased any products. Maybe I will though when I eventually make money online.
150 visitors a day sounds pretty good.

That is a good stat you got there. My idol is John Chow too. I always wanted to be like him but now I have learned that if we really follow him, we can’t really go anywhere. The are two big, big blogs that are missing from your list if you are looking to make money online and for free tutorials.
For Adsense Griz’s site http://makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com
An ugly site that shows you adsense inside out. He is running some tests on the site, banners etc, so ignore those and scroll down to the adsense lessons.

The other site you should go to and watch all the videos is
http://bloggerunleashed.com
If you are easily offended don’t watch them, some times the language is a bit strong.
PS – if you want to be the next John Chow don’t go to any of the sites mentioned, especially bloggerunleashed, because these sites show you how to get targeted traffic and make money, not how to get a 1000 readers who buy nothing.

Congratulations on your progress. I wonder how to trust alexa – you say you have 150 UV daily and alexa is 276,599 right now.
I have other site – about 1000 UVs and alexa is around 2mln.

Congrats on your success so far, the MMO market is totally saturated. I tried my hand at it for about a week when I first started blogging. I realized that I really knew nothing about MMO and stopped.
Moved on to a few other projects that actually do make money. This is my first time reading your blog, I’ll be back for sure:)

Yeah everything you possibly need to know is available for free on the internet. I agree that there is enough room for everyone in MMO niche.

Glad to see you’ve been having some success. It can take a lot of time to get going or to see steady results. I know a couple of sites of mine did well then seemed to level off. I think that’s the learning curve for niche blogs: you get to a point then it’s easy to get back there, then you have to break through to the next level at least once before that becomes easier, etc. Good post, thanks for sharing about your blogging success.

Personally the making money online niche is just too saturated for my taste. Granted other more obscure niches may not make as much money but they are easier to rank for.
